Latinx exhibition / exhibición de arte con Sebastián Chavez, Daniela Rivero & Paloma Barhaugh-Bordas
As part of Tompkins County Latino Heritage Month, we want to highlight the contribution of Latinx people to higher education in the United States. AMALGAM/A refers to a mixture of different materials to form a stronger one. Daniela Rivero and Sebastian Chavez, both students at Ithaca College, present us with works that mix dissimilar ones through collage and found objects, which they use to highlight their roots, memories and identities linked to cultural elements of El Salvador, Mexico and the Latinx experience as young people in the year 2020. Their pieces are accompanied by the work of Paloma Barhaugh-Bordas, Assistant Professor of Art at Ithaca College. The exhibition will be on view in the window at the Community School of Music and Arts and online at www.culturaithaca.com from October 2 to November 23, presented in partnership with the Latino Civic Association of Tompkins County and ¡Cultura! Ithaca.
En el marco del mes de la herencia latina en Tompkins County queremos resaltar el aporte de personas latinx en la educación superior en Estados Unidos. AMALGAM/A se refiere a la mezcla de materiales distintos para formar uno mas resistente. El trabajo de Daniela Rivero y Sebastian Chavez ambos estudiantes de Ithaca College, nos presentan trabajos que mezclan disímiles por medio del collage y el objeto encontrado, que utilizan para resaltar sus raíces, memorias e identidades vinculadas a elementos culturales de El Salvador, México y la experiencia latinx como jóvenes en el año 2020 acompañados por el trabajo de la Profesora de Arte en Ithaca College Paloma Barhaugh-Bordas. La exhibición estará abierta al público en el ventanal de la galería del Community School of Music and Arts y en línea en www.culturaithaca.com del 2 de Octubre al 2 de Noviembre, presentado en colaboración con Latino Civic Association of Tompkins County y ¡Cultura! Ithaca.
